HOMFIRTH ART MARKET INTERVIEW
May 2011

Name of company/artist?
SEQUEL LONDON

Tell us about your company and how it all began?
Sequel London was set up in 2010 by cousins Laura Queening and Claire Baigent, to reduce waste and encourage sustainability in fashion. We carefully select unwanted clothing from Oxfam Wastesaver, breathing the life back into tired cast-offs by creating stylish, affordable and contemporary accessories which can be used time & again.

What do you specialize in?
We make a stylish range of leather handbags from recycled leather jackets, silk ties and unwanted curtains.

What is your favourite piece within your collection?
Our favourite piece is the Frame Clutch Bag, which has a quirky wrist strap made from a recycled tie. The wrist strap gives a bit of extra security and is especially useful for when you need both hands free - carrying a round of drinks from the bar is not always easy with a clutch! The ZIp Work Bag is also great as you can fit a laptop in there - its a super stylish way to carry all the things you need for work.

What advice would you give someone starting their own creative business?
Make sure you love what you do as its not always glamorous or easy, and do your research!! Its improtant to know about your target customer, price range, and what else is available on the market.

What inspires you?
We love the thought of creatiing something beautiful from someone elses cast offs, taking something that used to be fashionable and giving it a new lease of life.

What day are you doing the art market and who are you excited about seeing?
We will be at the Art Market on 5th June and are really looking forward to seeing Helaina Sharpley and Maus Haus.

Where can we buy your work?
All of our bags are available online at www.sequellondon.co.uk
